DARRELL E. "JACK" JAMES, June 3, 1985
 On June 3, 1985, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Duncan Lake Ranger Jack James responded to gunshots heard from across Clear Creek Lake. Officer James drive to the area known as Point, where he made his last radio transmission indicating he was making contact with a brown and white van with the word "Security" on it. Officer James' body was found a short time later, and an intensive manhunt began which culminated in the arrest of Arthur M. Parks on June 4, 1985, in Lawton, Oklahoma. On January 20, 1986, Parks was tried by Stephens County District Attorney Tony Burns and convicted of First Degree Murder. He received a Life Sentence. On November 23, 1988, the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals reversed the conviction and remanded it back to Stephens County for further disposition. In March 1989, the case was retried with District Attorney Melvin Singleterry serving as prosecutor. The result was another conviction for the First Degree Murder of Officer James. Parks is currently serving a Life Sentence.
